The National Taxi Association (NTA), an association affiliated to the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), continue to engage taxi drivers regularly in response to developments in the Middle East. Drivers are feeling the strain from rising fuel costs, and stakeholders are coming together to help ease the pressures collectively.

In close consultation with NTA, STRIDES Premier has stepped forward to roll out additional support measures for its taxi and Private Hire Vehicle (PHV) driver‑partners to help mitigate the impact of rising fuel costs.

STRIDES Premier has introduced the following measures:

• A one-time $50 fuel credit that can be used at STRIDES Premier’s in-house fuel station at Changi South. This credit will be provided to all STRIDES Premier’s taxi and PHV driver-partners
• Fuel savings of up to 35% compared to prevailing market rates at STRIDES Premier’s in-house fuel station
• Up to $500 fuel credits for new taxi or PHV driver-partners: $250 for a 12-month contract, and $500 for a 24-month contract
• An increase in street hail fares by 1 cent per distance and time-based unit fare, effective 30 March 2026

NTA will continue to engage all taxi operators to secure further support for drivers.

Ms. Yeo Wan Ling, NTUC Assistant Secretary-General and Advisor to NTA said, “Taxi drivers are feeling the full impact of rising fuel costs, and it is eroding their livelihoods with every trip they take. NTA has raised our drivers’ concerns with taxi operators, and drivers cannot be left to shoulder this burden alone. Operators have a responsibility to the drivers who keep this industry moving. We welcome STRIDES Premier for stepping up and supporting our drivers through this challenging period. NTUC and NTA will continue to work with our taxi operators to put in place meaningful support measures for our drivers.”

Mr. Ang Wei Neng, CEO, STRIDES Premier said, “Our taxi and PHV driver-partners are the backbone of our business, and in times of rising fuel prices, we stand by them. That means $50 fuel credits for every hirer and fuel at our in-house fuel stations at up to 35% below market rates, putting more money in their pocket.”

With this milestone, STRIDES Premier becomes the first limousine operator in Singapore to set its limousine fleet on a path to electrification, marking a decisive step forward in green mobility.

The introduction of the DENZA D9 further elevates STRIDES Premier’s premium limousine offerings, delivering travel experiences anchored on convenience, style, and sustainability. Seamlessly blending cutting-edge EV technology with refined comfort and style, the DENZA D9 vehicles feature luxury leather seats, in-built massage functions, and generous legroom across all rows – delivering a first-class experience for every journey.

In support of Singapore’s green mobility goals, STRIDES Premier has committed to acquiring 20 DENZA D9 vehicles by 2025 as part of its fleet renewal plans for its limousine fleet. This complements STRIDES Premier’s existing taxi and private hire car fleets, including 300 electric vehicles currently in operation.

This collaboration enables us to drive the transition to EVs while delivering long-term economic benefits to our driver-partners, including potential fuel cost savings,” said Ang Wei Neng, CEO, STRIDES Premier.

In addition, STRIDES Premier has been officially appointed as the authorised repairer for DENZA vehicles used in its new fleet in Singapore, through its automotive arm, STRIDES Premier Automotive Services Pte Ltd (“SPAUTO”). This strategic collaboration ensures premium aftersales service and technical support for its new fleet, including guaranteed access to spare parts and direct technical expertise from BYD.

The long-term partnership established with Vantage Automotive – the authorised dealer and service provider for DENZA – will also enable co-development of service programmes, technical training, and logistics support, strengthening SPAUTO’s position in the electric vehicle aftersales ecosystem.

STRIDES Premier marked its first anniversary with a commemorative Townhall and a fruit party. Held at the STRIDES Premier office in Changi South on Friday (7 June 2024), the event celebrated a year of remarkable achievements and set a course for an even brighter future.

Close to 360 employees attended the event, including several staff members who dialed in online from 13 different workshop locations across Singapore. This is testament to the company’s sense of unity and inclusivity despite its diverse operational landscape.

Since its merger in May 2023, STRIDES Premier has navigated an extraordinary journey marked by milestones and accolades. By integrating resources and optimizing operations, the company has strengthened its market presence in the vehicle leasing and fleet maintenance businesses over the past year.

In his opening address, Mr. Seah Moon Ming, Chairman of SMRT, shared that with continued efforts and strategic initiatives, Strides Premier will continue to grow and surpass our business goals in the years ahead.

The Townhall was also a time to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of every employee. As part of the celebrations, a fruit party was concurrently held during the Townhall where employees were given a treat to yummy fruits. This was done so that employees could enjoy a day dedicated to their well-being.

The taxi call-booking and feedback hotline is no longer in service from 1 January 2025 onwards, following the updated requirements from LTA.

STRIDES Premier is pleased and proud to unveil the new logo and taxi livery on our taxis following the merger announcement in April earlier this year (2023) as Singapore’s second largest Taxi operator. The milestone launch event marks the company’s commitment to further enhance the lifestyles and mobility experience of our passengers.

This will enable companies to connect and engage with new customers and elevate the commuting experience. Passengers will be able to gain access to an array of information and entertainment throughout their journey.

Beyond passenger experience, STRIDES Premier is dedicated to improving the livelihoods of and increasing convenience for our taxi partners through welfare benefits. These benefits include highly discounted fuel, multiple vehicleservicing locations, access to corporate jobs to supplement partner income, and financial assistance schemes. Furthermore, to assist lower-income Taxi partner families to alleviate the cost of living, STRIDES Premier has provided over $200,000 in education support for their children since the scheme’s inception.

SMRT Corporation Ltd is pleased to announce that STRIDES Taxi Pte Ltd (STRIDES Taxi) and STRIDES Automotive Services Pte Ltd (STRIDES Automotive) will be merged with Premier Taxis Pte Ltd and Premier Automotive Services Pte Ltd to create Singapore’s second largest taxi operator with a significant presence in the Point-to-Point (P2P) transport industry.

As part of the merger, a new joint venture company, STRIDES Premier Pte Ltd (STRIDES Premier), will be formed to hold the merged business. STRIDES Holdings Ltd (STRIDES Holdings) will hold a majority stake in STRIDES Premier and Premier Corporation Pte Ltd and BS Investors Pte Ltd will jointly hold the remaining stake. STRIDES Holdings is a wholly owned subsidiary of SMRT and the parent company of STRIDES Taxi and STRIDES Automotive.

As the demand for Taxis and Private Hire Cars (PHCs) rebounds to pre-pandemic levels, the merger will help to safeguard the long-term interest of drivers and passengers, as well as enhance efficiency. STRIDES Premier will offer a full suite of technical expertise and workshop capabilities to service the expanded fleet.

STRIDES Premier will be working closely with National Taxi Association (NTA) and National Transport Workers Union (NTWU) to engage existing drivers and staff of all the entities involved in the merger. All current rental agreements of the PHCs, Taxis, Limousines and Private Cars will not be affected. Staff would be expected to continue with their duties after the merger. Engagement sessions with staff would be arranged. STRIDES Premier is committed to a smooth transition for all parties.
